Axiom Sports

Axiom Sports began with a dream held by a small group of college students who desired to use sports as an avenue to change the world. This group had a vision that was accompanied by years of experience in both camp ministry and student ministry. The team spent their entire lives learning lessons from athletics that have shaped them into the people they are today. After having their lives changed from camp ministries, they began to understand value of the camp experience in the  lives of kids. This experience with years of sports and leadership training has convinced them that athletics are one of the main avenues to reach this generation for Christ.

Sports are universal.

In what other area of life can an American, a German, a Zimbabwean, a Peruvian, and a Korean get together and understand each other completely? Sports unite the world. The Olympics brings cooperation from the entire world in a  way that politics never could. Soccer’s World Cup has literally caused wars to cease. The first American contingent allowed into a closed communist China in the ’70’s was a ping pong team.

The gospel of Jesus Christ is also universal.

It is for all people for all time. People in China, New Zealand, Nicaragua, and Canada worship the same Lord. At Axiom our mission is to make disciples of all nations – and sports is the language we will use to make it happen.

Axiom will equip students with the tools they need to succeed both on and off the field. “Winning Redefined” is our mantra, which is a paradigm shift from what the world teaches. In implementing our five core values of integrity, unity, discipline, respect, and courage we will disciple these athletes and teach them how to be true champions. These values are all based on biblical truths but can be used in a  secular setting with teams and athletes as well.

TYLER, NICKI, AND LARKIN MCCLURE

Tyler and Nicki McClure spent 10 days in the UK in the summer of 2013 with Axiom Sports, and felt God leading them to the Tees Valley after they experienced the desperate need for the Gospel. God has instilled in them a passion to use sports as a platform to share His message, and their aim is to lead and equip Christian athletes to use their abilities to build relationships and share the gospel. Tyler and Nicki moved to the UK in January of 2014 with their son, Larkin, and are now leading a team of five other athletes in sports ministry across the Tees Valley.

Tyler and Nicki met at Liberty University in 2007, where they discovered each other’s love for God, love for people, and passion to use sports to build relationships and reach people all over the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Nicki received her Bachelor’s Degree in Women’s Ministry, and Tyler received his degrees in Biblical Studies and Youth Ministry. Tyler continued his education by receiving his Master’s Degree in Christian Leadership.

The McClures are excited to be partnering with UK-USA Ministries, as they feel that their gifts fit perfectly into the vision of the organization. Axiom Sports has been a valuable tool to help build relationships with the people of the Tees Valley and beyond. Nicki is using her experience as a former All-American volleyball player and her love for discipling young females to reach, grow, and send students out into the world, while Tyler is using his experience in sports camps ministry coupled with his leadership experience to teach, train, and holistically develop students.
