Over the past 14 years, the UK-USA partnership has blossomed and we have literally seen hundreds of USA students engaged in local ministry in the UK. Through the mandatory Religious Education classes offered in every public school in the UK, we have utilized USA students sharing their testimonies and RE lessons on short-term trips. While this partnership has been effective and we have seen benefits on both sides of the pond, it is becoming increasingly obvious that the most effective form of evangelism in a “Post-Christian England” is long-term relational ministry. In light of the need for relational ministry and ministers, we moved to The Tees Valley to lead the UK-USA partnership on UK soil. Our goal is that we will have 15-20+ church partners who will support this ministry through their annual mission budget as well as send short-term teams to invest relationally in the UK. However, in addition to financial support and short-term mission teams coming, we want to add a new dimension. It is our hope that partner churches would send and support a rising youth ministry intern/pastor to come and serve in the UK for 2-3 years. This “person of peace” would minister in one of the schools with our short-term teams. As a “person of peace” he/she would function much like a youth pastor. This would include being engaged on campus, attending sports events, coaching, and being a positive presence in the community. The goal would be to plant a church within a year with the “person of peace” also serving as the youth pastor or pastor. This person would provide a relational bridge from the school to a new, vibrant, growing congregation.
